Spyhouse Roasters out of Minneapolis is one of our longtime favorites. They have five cafes in the Twin Cities metro area and since we’re too far away to review this establishment (yet!), we decided to bring Spyhouse to us!  Spyhouse’s website, www.spyhousecoffee.com makes it extremely easy to order (and reorder!) and track your coffee purchases.  It’s one of those coffees that we can’t help coming back to. 

Today we tried three different Spyhouse exclusives that we think you’ll love: Orion – their espresso blend, Bold and the Beautiful – their darker roast, and Mujeres Unidas – a special women-produced coffee.

Orion – We tasted this as a pour over, and it was immediately clear why this makes unbelievable espresso! It’s dark chocolate, smoky aroma and light sweet fruit aftertaste was an immediate wakeup to the senses. We can see how this coffee would make the perfect latte or cortado because of its strong, energizing flavor.

Bold And The Beautiful – With dark, earthy tones, we tasted notes of green vegetables and chocolate. We couldn’t taste the Creme Brûlée, but maybe you can! If you’re not a fan of fruity or tea-like coffee, this is a perfect pick! This is sure to get you going in the morning, and would be paired well with a sweet treat.

Mujeres Unidas – This single-origin coffee was made special by women producers. We think it’s great that spyhouse is conscious of the extensive work that women contribute to the industry, and support a farming system that encourages equality and a way for women to support their families.  

That being said, this was our favorite coffee taste today! This well-balanced coffee had notes of chocolate, spiced pecan and bananas. Very smooth and easy to finish. This would pair perfectly with a slice of banana bread. Since both the cause and the coffee give us all the feels, we highly recommend giving Mujeres Unidas a try.
