Sioux Falls’s up-and-coming coffee community is hitting some high notes with the addition of The Source Coffee Roastery + Taproom located near Falls Park.

This place was bright and trendy – marble tile, clean lines, wood accents and live greens make it a great spot to unwind and relax.  You can bring all your friends or hang out here alone – large tables and solo seating are both available.

It’s exciting to see another roaster in Sioux Falls dedicated to developing high-quality specialty coffee and providing on-tap beers from artisan breweries.  A crucial piece of the puzzle is staffing – if the coffee is great, the baristas should be too, right? Fortunately, the baristas were polite, knowledgeable, and knew their way (very well) around a shot of espresso.

Checking out the menu we found lots of things to try, but today was a quick stop so we hit up our default favorites.  We have a long list for our next visit, though!

Iced Caramel Latte – This did not disappoint–balanced, smooth, and strong. The Monin syrup wasn’t excessive; just enough to give you a hint of caramel underneath the 605 espresso, and we could taste the notes of chocolate and berries shining through.

Cortado – Strong and clean, this packed a punch but was easy to drink. We ordered it with eight grams of honey. We might have to order this one again next time we’re in town!

For those of you driving through the Sioux Falls area, this is worth a stop.  With the specialty coffee scene spreading in South Dakota, it’s exciting to find hidden gems (and there are more than you’d think!) here in the Plains!
